Get Spiritually Dressed

I am so grateful for God’s blessings on our lives. Jesus hung on a cross from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. in excruciating pain — all for me and you! Why are we not different? God has forgiven us in our
ignorance.

There is a difference between believing and knowing. The Word had to become rhema for it to change us. There is a special moment in time when the door is open — when there will be a
change in the atmosphere. When things change, we have to change with GOD’S FORWARD ACTIONS.

We may have heard it all before, but were too dumb to understand it. The Apostle Paul said in 1 Thessalonians 4:13, “I would not have you to be ignorant…” Jesus said, “O you of little faith,” (Matthew 8:6); and “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!” (Luke 24:25). God has forgiven us our ignorance.

Evil principalities and powers are at work (i.e the Charlie Kirk assignation); and we are not immune to it here in Canada. God’s enemy is our enemy. Are we getting spiritually dressed? In the natural, I get up every morning and put on the clothes my wife has laid out for me. Do you not think that God might have prepared for you a set of spiritual clothing for us to wear? God installs that in us.

In Ephesians 6:10-18, we read: “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.  11  Put on the whole
armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  12  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of  the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.  13  Therefore, take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14  Stand, therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,  15  and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;  16  above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.  17  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;  18  praying always with all prayer
and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.”

With God’s suit of armour, we can set out into the day. There is a shield designed by God to quench all the fiery darts of hell. It is unthinkable that we would leave our house and come out
into the world naked. Put on the spiritual clothes He gave you! In the natural, if you did not put on a raincoat, you would be unprotected from inclement weather. Principalities and powers
can see the spiritual armor you are wearing, so make sure you put on the whole armor, and, above all, make sure you have the shield of faith (16).

WE NEED TO LINE UP WITH THE WORD. Deal with the devil every morning by putting on what God has provided for us. “Sufficient for the day is its own trouble” (Matthew 6:34), so we
are ready to face the day.

We are a team. We are to stand in the gap for each other! The enemy knows two things: 1) If we fight other people, they will fight back; 2) If we fight each other, we will never defeat the
enemy. How long will it take for us to understand the power of spiritual unity? In Luke 11:17, Jesus said, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and a divided household
falls.”

We are in the world, but not of it (John 17:16). We are citizens of the Kingdom of God. This is Kingdom armour. Christian warfare is fought in Spirit-filled supernatural prayer. God is looking for people who will cry out to the Lord. Are we hearing what God is saying to us? God is calling us to a place of intercession on behalf of others. Intercession is the act of petitioning God or praying on behalf of another person or group. Intercession is needed because the sinful nature of this world separates human beings from God. We are to speak reconciliation between God and His creation. The Bible tells us that it has always been necessary for righteous individuals to go before God to see INTERCESSION RECONCILATION between God and His fallen creation. (Old Testament examples: Abraham Gen. 18; Moses Ex. 15:25; Ex 29:42; Nehemiah 1).

Jesus, of course, is the greatest intercessor of all (John 17, Luke 22:32). Jesus was always praying and His work on the cross is His ultimate expression of intercession. Remember, Jesus is still praying for us (Hebrews 7:25); and the Holy Spirit pleads on behalf of the individual Christian (Rom 8:26, 27). We are urged to intercede for all people (1 Tim. 2:1).

In Hope Centre Church is New Minas, that is what our intercession prayer-wall cross is for. We, in our consistent prayers, are effective in petitioning God on behalf of all those who are named and pictured on our wall. This means that our prayer ministry is the primary ministry of Hope Centre Family Church. We are called to be a biblical house of prayer.

It is time to put the devil to flight! Our every breath is to be for the advantages of the purposes of God. God can do more than we could ever ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). We want God’s blessing upon our church. We want New Minas to be affected positively by this church.

No matter what, stay close to God. Pray for those on your prayer wall that everyone be saved. Believe that God is capable. Pray that His desire be done.

Shalom!
