As for me…

Today I am going to look at the truths of Psalm 55 where David makes this statement:

“As for me…”

As for you… do you get thrilled with Jesus?
As for you… will you enter His gates?
As for you…if Jesus asked you to do anything, would you do it?
As for you… would you go out into the byways and highways?
The question is… would I do it? Would you do it?

There was a time when I didn’t know the Lord. In 1977, a month before Christmas, I went to bed on top of the mountain and woke up in full-fledged depression. I was a successful journalist and a faithful Anglican at the time but could no longer fulfill my duties. My Minister said, “You’ll get over it.” I kept getting worse. Scheming, to try to make things better, I bought tickets for Disney World for the family and put them under the tree. But on Christmas morning, I took them out from under the tree before anyone noticed them and later cancelled the trip.

Later on, my pastor asked me to represent the Anglican Church in an Ecumenical service at the Catholic Church (“You
and Me Brothers and Sisters”) where I would share what the Anglican Church believed. At first, I refused but I did eventually go. I took out my outline, and said, “A funny thing happened to me on my way here. I noticed that our house was the only house without a fence around it and a gate locked on the inside.” I then put my notes in my pocket and quoted the words of Jesus, which I had learned as a boy in Sunday School: “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.” (Rev. 3:20)

As I was leaving the event, two Catholic priests who were sponsoring the meeting invited me to speak at their church
saying, “You are the only one who preached the Gospel.”
Jesus said, “Those who believe in Me, will follow Me” (John 12:26)

Are you filled with the Holy Spirit? Ephesians 5:18 says, “Be filled with the Holy Spirit.” That is the way it is supposed to be.

We are chosen! You did not choose Jesus, He chose you! (John 15:16)

Do you love the Word? What you need to know is all that is contained in the Bible!

When was the last time you heard His voice? It is easy for us to sing along with the praise team, but many of us have a problem talking to Him. Are we afraid what He might say to us? We read the Bible, but the Bible, in reality, is also reading us!

If you do not have a personal investment in the church you are attending, you will not value it. If I don’t pray; if you don’t pray, who will?

Jesus said in Mark 16:17 – 18, “And these signs will follow those who believe: in My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;  they will take up serpents; and if they
drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

These signs will not follow us if we are not truly believers. How come we don’t have more praying in the heavenly prayer language of the Holy Spirit? Why are people not attending and participating in intercessory prayer? It matters how close you get to Jesus! Your believing prayers said from your mouth reach
the golden altar in Heaven.

I personally believe that God chose me to be a pastor and have moved in every gift in this Bible. What is keeping you short of your calling?

Jesus asked His disciples, “Are you going to leave Me, too?”

Peter replied, “Where can we go; You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:68). Peter is expressing his commitment to
following Jesus after many other disciples left him, recognizing that Jesus’s teachings are the source of spiritual and everlasting life.

Are we failing in prayer? David (Psalm 51) and Nehemiah (Chapter 1) are two examples for total prayer initiated by the Holy Spirit.

Let’s look at David’s Psalm 55:16,17 – “As for me, I will call upon God, and the LORD shall save me. Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and He shall hear my voice.”

THE POWER OF A SEED: A father had his son plant a seed and cover it with earth. The earth said to the seed, “Hello you little seed. You are so small; you will never amount to anything. And I, the earth that covers you, am far bigger and will keep you buried.” The little seed replied, “I have the power within me of a mighty God and I am going to move out of this darkness and grow until I reach the light.”

Many of us are facing dark days and are being lied to by the enemy who is trying to bury you. All the forces of the Creator are within you. He will bring you up into the light.

Why are we afraid of the supernatural? Is it because we have our own personal negative beliefs? Jesus was raised from the grave and highly exalted by His father and will rule over
every principality and power. (Philippians 2:5-11) There is no other way!

Keep the faith and the faithful One will keep you secure as you abide in Him.
